Christian Szymczak and Kenny Murillo won Sunday’s second Pirelli GT4 America SprintX/West race at Sonoma Raceway in their Murillo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4.
Szymczak passed Preston Calvert for the lead in the second stint after coming out of the pits in fifth and moving his way up through the field.
Calvert had to settle for second in his and Matt Keegan’s Team Panoz Racing car, while also taking the SprintX Am win with the Murillo car running in West Pro-Am.
Keegan had taken the lead 15 minutes into the race by passing Jason Hart’s pole-sitting Nolasport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, with the two later pitting at the same time.
With Szymczak running ahead of Calvert at the front of the field, Colin Mullan moved his Andretti Autosport McLaren 570S GT4 around the outside of the Nolasport Porsche to take third.
Mullan and Jarett Andretti held on for the SprintX Pro-Am class win from third, with Nolasport’s Matt Travis and Hart finishing fourth.
The final class, West Am, went the way of Vesko Kozarov and Jeff Burton from eighth overall after the Rearden Racing pair won Saturday’s first race outright.
