Dilbagh Gill has been appointed by invitation to join the FIA’s Electric and New Energy Championship Commission (ENECC), e-racing365 can reveal.
The Mahindra Racing team principal joins his Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler counterpart Allan McNish on the board of the body which oversees several FIA series including the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.
Gill accepted an invitation late last year to join the commission which is headed by Professor Burkhard Goeschel.
“My candidature was proposed by the Indian ASN so I am representing them as a committee member,” Gill told e-racing365.
“I’m not representing a manufacturer or Formula E, I’m solely representing an ASN.
“Obviously Formula E experience helps with understanding some of the topics but the genesis of it was not from Formula E.
“I was pleased to be asked and I am sure it will be an interesting and informative group to be part of.”
The ENECC has 16 voting members, of which Gill is one.
Also on the ENECC commission is Frederic Espinos, who represents promoter Formula E Holdings Ltd, as is Michael Norton, Ford’s motorsport performance manager.
One of the FIA’s technical managers Laurent Arnaud, who regularly attends Formula E events, is also on the committee.
The commission works in conjunction with Formula E’s working groups and proposes maters of regulation.
Chairman Professor Burkhard Goeschel reports directly to the WMSC and sits every quarter.
